Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
