Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
